Gia is an attractive 2011 chestnut sabino Dutch Warmblood filly. She is by the 17.0 hh stallion Ironman (Inselfurst/Wienerwald/Gottard), who had great success in the jumper ring and has gone on to be a leading hunter sire. Ironman’s offspring are known for their great temperament, outstanding athletic ability, personality, intelligence, easy trainability, and superb conformation. This filly is out of the imported 16.3+ hh Dutch Warmblood mare, Piacenza (Hamlet/Pele). She is by the International Grand Prix Jumper, Hamlet. Hamlet is well-known for siring the great Hickstead, who was ridden by Canada's Eric Lamaze, and won countless Grand Prix events worldwide. He represented Canada in 10 Nations Cup classes. His many international wins include the 2008 Olympic individual gold and team silver medalist, the 2007 $1 million CN International at Spruce Meadows and team silver and individual bronze at the 2007 Pan American Games. Hickstead also won the $100,000 CN World Cup Grand Prix in Toronto in November, and the €175,000 Rolex World Cup Grand Prix in Geneva in December. Based on his performance record, Hickstead was ranked the number one show jumping horse in the world by the World Breeding Federation of Sport Horses (WBFSH) in 2008. He was also named 'Stallion of the Year' for 2008 by the KWPN. Piacenza’s dam, Brigette, competed through the 1.35 m jumpers and is by Pele, an excellent producer of both dressage and jumping horses in the Netherlands. Piacenza started in the jumper ring in Holland successfully completing up to the 1.30 m jumpers, and was then imported to the United States to enter hunter/jumper training. She competed successfully at the A level for several years in both hunters and jumpers with her young riders with numerous wins at HITS Ocala.
This filly is inquisitive and smart with a sweet personality. She is brave in new situations and is very easy to work with. She is handled daily and well socialized. She will mature to 16.3-17.0 hh and is sure to turn heads in the hunter or jumper rings!
